21 - 27 August 2006 Sunday

The whole of this week was spent with the family just outside Vayrac, in the Dordogne, in holiday accomadation.
As Grandchildren were an integral part of the holiday one was involved in canoeing (took some time to discover that 2 man Indian type canoes have a bow and a stern, and sitting wrong way round facing over the "stern" and so driving them with or without the dreaded lurgy is indescribably uncomfortable). Also nasty rough games like French Cricket, Touch Rugby, 4 man Ping Pong, Frisby throwing, Swimming (yes we had a swimming pool), walking up mountains, pot holing (the French don't call it that - they have queues of people awaiting boats, and you get rowed around).
It was all enormous fun, and that - the Dordogne - is a beautiful part of the world. Really enjoyed it, and was sad to leave early on the Saturday morning - although glad that train times gave me an excuse not to help too much with hand-over clean up.

A bit dull - "potholing".

Train journey back - like French train journeys - fast efficient and comfortable.

Once again very pleased to be collected from Joigny and re-delivered back to Albert.

What a contrast in life styles between the Dordogne, and Albert on the Yonne!!
