First starters - 1 tenth of fleet sets out in morning mist from Cowes for the Fastnet

Albert's  Log  for July and August  2009

Albert
still in Decize,  Crew still in Lymington

Regrettably, there is no change as yet in relative locations of Albert, and crew.

BUT - is the end in sight?

Initially it was driving super little electric buggies round supermarket, but latterly much physical exercise, both walking and Bromptoning.

The former - round the immediate block stick assisted, to exploration of multitude of foot paths around Lymington, Pennington, and particularly the marshes down on the edge of the Solent.

The Brompton apparently had an axe to grind.   It deposited me suddenly onto a hard tar road, hip (Fortunately the unrepaired one) down.   On inspection found an extra fold in the frame, and had to signal passing motorist to help.

Messrs Brompton came out tops and volunteered a new frame for free under warrantee - 5, 6, 7, years ago - I cannot reme
mber.

Big event - Cowes week, and particularly the Fastnet Race.    Latter well presented with up-to-date positions and track sailed on the internet.

Food for thought - the big boats were 100 foot long, and carried crews of 25 plus!

NOW - am booked and paid for to return to Albert in Decize on 19th August.
What more is there to say?

A bit more of the Fastnet fleet exiting the Solent past the Needles
