Thursday
Left England!
0630 Wightlink to Portsmouth, 0745 P & O to le Havre, drove to Mantenon north of le Chartres for night.
Nice place - very ancient, with chateau, but too overcooked (us - not the town) to appreciate.
April 5
Friday
Mantenon to St Jean de Losne by car.
Thick mist precluded site seeing.
Drew first Euros from bank.
Arrived at Albert early afternoon - all well. Boat dirty outside, but bone dry within.
Settled in.
Supper at l’Amiral.
April 6
Saturday
Cleaned boat in so far as we could - moored bow on!
Whiled time away in time honoured boater fashion - doing nothing.
Ran engine - slight drama - electrical fault indicated no current at switch, but mild tap with broom re-established contact.
April 7
Sunday
Fiddled about at St J. de L. with enormous pleasure - meeting people and wandering around.
Weather fine and warm - bicycles and shirtsleeves.
April 8
Monday
As yesterday - current project is to convert loo system to "sea toilet".
Funds preclude immediate change, so a bit at a time. Skin fittings bought and installed.
April 11
Thursday
Preparations in hand to leave to-morrow.
