INTRODUCTORY NOTE
This week changed from a gentle wander down one of our favourite canals through fields of moos and buttercups and super views (in, it has to said, some seriously foul weather) to serious boating experiences.
Firstly the modem on our mobile phone gave up the ghost (I know that is not a normal "serious boating experience", it is for us!), and we were unable to e-mail or upload.
Secondly, we hit France's favourite canal over a holiday week-end and week in France, which coincided with a holiday week-end in UK, so from Sardy onwards we were necessarily accompanied by other boats - almost invariably hire - with all the technicalities that sort of trip entails.  (Never mind the view/your photographs/camera/your lunch/or anything, don't hold up the lock keepers/other boaters/etc and for heaven's sake make up your mind and don't hiver and hover).
Daily log write up fell apart - photographing largely stopped - we were busy busy busy!   This, of course, is exactly what boating is not (or should not be) about, but the 21st Century is terribly intrusive - especially when one wants to use it's technical assets at 19th century style and speed.
Finally, we felt we should return to England for a few days at the end of the week on family affairs, so life is/was not as tidy as we would like.

So, apologies to all - we leave Laroches Migennes at about 0530 to-morrow morning (Sunday 1 June) to try and beat "the strike" and return to-wards the end of the week.   If the strike continues and bites heaven help our family who will have to entertain us.

Maybe I will write this up from notes when we return - maybe just start again.

Went into Auxerre by train from Clamercy to get new mobile ordered in Nevers.    Sweaty journey in, sweaty bike ride to France Telecoms.   They were shut!   Made a plan and now have a horrid little thing with far too many bells and whistles to be manageable.   Never mind - it works and we are back on air.
