28 Aug, Monday  le Pechoir to Brienon.
Sad to leave Le Pechoir - it has been virtually home for a month now for Albert and myself - very very grateful for hospitality to both of us.

0728_web .jpg (64265 bytes)Quick word here - not sure how to say this without sounding bleak and pompous.   Said a lot about le Péchoir, but I have, I hope, not exactly located it.   It is a private house, the mooring is right outside the owner's front door, and is formally let to the owner by VNF.   In other words - the mooring is private property!!   That is not to say boaters are unwelcome - just ask first!   If you want to make contact, e-mail me, and I will give you a tel no or  e-mail address if the owner is in residence and is happy!   No, I am not being "dog-in-a-manger" - but I am sure boaters will understand that privacy is privacy.
I may say the owner, who was originally introduced to me by a fellow boater, could not have been more hospitable to Albert - and indeed to other boats - see right pictures - over the last 7 years to my certain knowledge.

By the way, the photo on the left is from about 4 years ago - would that Albert still looked so smart.

Set off to go to Brienon to sort self and boat out for final stage of Adventure 2006 down - or rather up and
down - the Nivernais to booked winter mooring in Decize.

Albert was fine, and apart from oil change and battery topping up, no sorting out needed.    Regrettably, battery topping up was very overdue, and what with hot weather throughout June and July, and heavy use, each battery took a litre of water.   Suspect - as they are not holding the charge like they did at the beginning of the season, that they are unhappy.    I will see next year.
Into Brienon, moored up in "usual" place.  I note that after I have used a mooring twice or more it becomes "my" mooring, and find myself unreasonably disappointed, and even angry, if I find some else is making perfectly legitimate use of it.

Took myself off to doctor re leg that was assaulted by "wall mounted oil filled" heater some weeks ago.   All healed, except for small hole that stank of rotting meat!   Jolly!
Doctor totally relaxed, dry dressing and alcohol (on the wound - not internally) - and if it doesn't heal into hospital and we'll attack it with a scalpel.   It will heal, or else!    Used my little plastic EU medical card for first time.   No charge, we all seem to be covered - previously have always paid cash to doctor himself at end of consultation.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,  Aug 29, 30, 31, Sep 1st, and 2nd  Brienon
Brienon - nursing a cold which I am convinced I caught in the Doctor's waiting room.   Dry dressing with alcohol working on leg - good!  What a fuss pot one becomes when on one's own.
Poor weather, chilly, and chest cold - cross.  Didn't feel like doing anything, so did very little except get crosser.

2nd Sep, Saturday,  Still in Brienon.
Brienon vide Grenier with Juliet.   This - the vide grenier lark - could become an obsession.   Will try and arrange cruising next year to slot in with local v.g.s.
