- Moored up for the entire week on quite
comfortable pontoon with electricity and water awaiting release to cross the
Loire safely at Decize.
- The crossing, of course, is closed -
river in flood. Greeting hereabouts is "have you
heard anything yet".
- Heavy rain on Sunday and Monday, with the
rest of the week being cold, bleak, and showery, with continuous light
drizzle/proper rain on Thursday, Friday, and to-day - Sat! Presume the river is
dropping - hear every now and again - "maybe end of week",
"next week", etc. My problem is that I have to be in UK in
last week of month, having laid up boat and extracted chunk of prop
shaft for carriage to and repair in Derby, UK.
-
- Just managed to sneak a quick clothes wash in
on Tuesday, but only just made it - problem, of course, as always, is the drying.
-
- A small amount of boat traffic went past us
early in the week, but in the latter half virtually nothing - maybe 2 boats a day going
upstream (away from Decize), and very occasional boat with moorings in St
Léger de Vigne on this side of the river going
to-wards Decize.
-
- Not normal June traffic!
-
- However, we are lucky here with a good baker
and a good butcher - excellent chalk pops - with some general store items
incl fruit on the road just above and opposite the moorings. Bit
expensive.
-
- On the other side of Cercy we have an adequate
large supermarket (atac) which I bless with my presence each day - largely
for the exercise in getting to and from.
- Had to trot up there for gas carrying the
bottle strapped into the little trailer trailing behind the Brompton, (1st
bottle finished as I left Chatillon, and although a bottle lasts me 3 to 4
weeks, hate using second for more than 4
or 5 days with other bottle empty - just my siege complex)
. Slightly adventuresome on the way there - went too fast,
trailer started bumping around, and turned over, releasing itself from the
bicycle hitch and lying in a thoroughly undignified way in the gutter on the
side of the road waggling it's wheels in the air. Following
teaching of my Lothian Grandmother - when traveling always have a piece of
string available - was able to fasten the hitch properly, tie it all
to-gether, and continue a bit more cautiously and safely.
